Early start this morning (Monday) I took the pressure plate assembly off and inspected the wear on the parts. The disc is a 9-1/4 inch diameter disc .... hmmm not 10 or 11 ... I hope this does not create a problem, although it would not surprise me.
Here are some pictures of the parts and their wear.
First let me say, you take good pictures.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can see, it appears that the disk has gotten hot from slippage ? Altho there appears to be quite a lot of disk material left, it looks as if some of the rivets are exposed?, which in turn would cause wear on the face of the pressure plate. The tongs of the pressure plate appear to be in pretty good shape, altho I do not like the looks of the pressure plate ( wear on the face side ), are there grooves in it? Appears there may be.
In my opinion I would replace the pressure plate also. Good Luck and be careful.

P.S. I like the changing pics at the top of your page !! Dad
ReplyDeleteI took a second look at the disc and what appears to be exposed rivets are where it is put together I think it wears along with the disc. The holes next to those are the ones that should not show rivets. Yes the disc looks to be plenty thick but like you say slick from heat or age .... everything looks like it has been in there since the 60s! All new parts later this week!
ReplyDeleteThe little slide show is an option for the blog you just pic a keyword and it will show pictures from another site. I used traditional hotrods.
